Sitting in a farm house in Baldone, Latvia sits a small girl with a quivering lip that breaks your heart and a smile that warms your soul. This morning was our last Skype call to Nata before our quest to join our littlest daughter. She was so excited to see us and we were just as eager to speak with her. But throughout the day I must say I was sad with a heavy heart. We are only 7 days away from leaving, 10 days away from being able to hold her and 11 day away from our daughter being with us full time. Yet, to her this is an eternity. We know she was excited that we are almost on our way but all she could say is, "Can't you come sooner", it bring tears to your eyes.
(This is the foster home she is staying in)
The new foster parents and foster siblings (4 girls and 1 boy) seem wonderful. Nata looks and acts happy and we are sure she is getting the support she needs from them. But for several months now, not to mention the 4 years before, she knows we are her family and love and miss her very much. She wants to be with her family and we want her. For the past few months we have Skyped her almost every Saturday and each time she asks us when we are coming to get her. But today she really pulled those heart strings.
Sanija is so excited and not just because she getting the sister she has always wanted it because apparently it means she gets a new wardrobe for the journey. Oh did I forget, not just clothes but a new look as well. I was about to post a photo when my daughter about ripped my head off. You see, she wants it to be a surprise for everybody in Latvia and some of those friends are following this blog as we speak. So NO PHOTOS of the new look.
Well today was our first "real" get ready for the trip / packing day. You ask how did we do? Well, let me just say that tomorrow will be our first "real" packing day.
